lose weightWeighty Advice!

The projections for obesity over the next 20 years are daunting. In 2006 I:4 adults were classified obese. The picture is sobering with a 10% rise per decade predicted.
Sedentary work, calorie rich diets and limited physical activity are mainly to blame. The risk of heart disease, stroke, diabetes, certain cancers, infertility, arthritis and depression are but some of the complications associated with the condition.

It is however wrong to assume that being overweight means you are not healthy. Many athletes can be technically ‘overweight’. The picture is complicated and we should never lose sight of the person in assessing what defines a healthy weight.

Cardiovascular fitness, healthy eating, self esteem and being ‘fit for purpose’ are all part of considering what defines a healthy body weight for the individual.

Here at Lensfield Practice we take into account the ‘ whole person’ when addressing weight advice. We understand it is emotive and a personal issue, and we take an individual and holistic approach.

If your weight is something that is troubling you, or that you feel confused by the array of diets and exercise regimes out there, then call in to see us to discuss your concerns more fully.
