Medical Services at Lensfield Medical PracticeOur Medical Services

Lensfield Medical Practice is essentially a team of professionals with differing but complimentary skills.

With the inevitable pressure on appointments, we would ask that you consider who is best placed to meet your need.
Many straightforward concerns concerning minor illness can be answered on the NHS Direct website or telephone line, 0845 4647.

Our Nurses are best placed to answer travel vaccine queries, most minor illness and minor injuries and will take phone call consultations.
The Doctors do likewise , and we strive to meet your expectations by providing on-line, telephone, sameday, 48hr, and long range appointments up to 90 days ahead.

Other Services Provided

Complicated and high risk pregancies are referred directly for Consultant led care.

Please see your usual doctor or book an appointment for the Tuesday clinic.

Immunisations

These are done by appointment with the nurse for foreign travel or protection at home.
We asl patients to wait for 20 minutes after any injection in case a reaction occurs.
There is a charge for some travel vaccinations not available on the NHS.

Counselling

Helen Loth and Sandra George, our counsellors, will see patients on the recommendation of a doctor to explore problems of many different types such as personal relations, difficult decision making and depression.

To make a referral please discuss this with your doctor, or contact reception for an information leaflet and referral address.
This is a service that is popular and often oversubscribed so we do advise discussing your situation with a doctor to see if there are possibly other avenues that can help.

Minor Operations

We offer a range of services from removal of ingrowing toenails, excision of problem skin lesions, diagnostic biopsies and other procedures. Please discuss your needs with your doctor.

Telephone Advice

We have telephone appointments with the doctors, (the receptionist will arrange a time for the docotor to phone you back), and it is usually possible to speak to a nurse for advice.

Laboratory Test Results

You will be told roughly how long your results will take to come back. Please telephone after 11AM or call in for results in the afternoon if possible.
Cervical smear results are notified by post.

Repeat Prescriptions

Post, fax (01223 566930), or drop in your request.
If possible, use your printed prescription counterfoil. However, if it is not available, write down what you need.
Please note: We do not accept requests by telephone.

Alternatively, please use our Online Prescription Form.

Please allow 2 working days from receipt for processing. You can then collect the prescription from reception.

If you send a stamped addressed envelope, we can return the prescription to you or direct to your chemist. Some chemists will collect your prescription for you and/or deliver the medicines to you.

Please tell us if the prescription is urgent and we will do our best to get it ready quickly.

Because we are a training practice, we sometimes have Cambridge University Medical Students sitting in with the doctors. The receptionist will let you know if this is so.
If you do not wish the students to attend your consultation, please say.
